Melbourne Day 4 - Little River Earth Sanctuary

After breakfast, we drove back to Melbourne to check into the Windsor Hotel. The hotel looks great on the website, and on the outside, but it's not what I expected. The rooms were probably the talk of the town in the early 20th century. Looks like all they did was put in electricity and plumbing to the darn rooms since the hotel opened. Our king bed is actually put together by two twin beds! We want to go back to the Sofitel!!!!!!

Anyway, this evening we went to the Little River earth Sanctuary, which is about 45 minutes drive outside of Melbourne, right next to the You Yangs. (The name 'You Yang' comes from the Aboriginal words 'Wurdi Youang' or 'Ude Youang' meaning 'big mountain in the middle of a plain'. Aboriginal people enlarged natural hollows in the rocks to form wells that held water even in dry seasons.)

Anna's Aussie Tidbits:

Plastic syringe disposal boxes are found in most public restrooms here in Melbourne. This means they either have a high incidence of diabetes, or a tons of druggies :)

Gelato seems to be the latest craze here. There are a ton of them on every street.
